【摘要】:Thistestmethodestablishesastandardprocedureforrapidly(in1horless)determiningthechemicalresistanceofspecimensofprotectiveclothingmaterials.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtorankmaterialsastotheirsuitabilityforusewithliquidsofknownorunknowncomposition.Thebreakthroughdetectiontime,permeationrate,orcumulativepermeationcanbeusedtoidentifyprotectiveclothingmaterialsthataremorelikelytolimitpotentialexposurestochemicals.Longerbreakthroughdetectiontimesandlowercumulativeamountspermeatedandpermeationratesarecharacteristicsofmaterialsthatarebetterbarrierstothetestchemical.IngeneralthistestmethodislesssensitivethanTestMethodF739coupledwithsensitiveanalyticalprocedures.Incaseswherethechemicalofconcernishighlytoxicandcontactofevenaverysmallamountwiththeskinmaybedetrimentaltohealth,thepermeationcupmethodisnotrecommended.UseTestMethodF739.Uponpermeatingtheclothingmaterial,thechemicalmustevaporateinorderforaweightlosstooccurandpermeationtobedetected.Consequently,thetestmethodmaynotbeapplicableforchemicalshavinglowvolatility(thatis,vaporpressure).Thevaporpressurebelowwhichthistestmethodisnotapplicablehasnotbeendetermined.5.4.1AprocedureforassessingvolatilityisdescribedinSection10.Theresultsofthistestmethodarehighlydependentonthetesttemperature.Iftheobjectiveistocomparedifferentclothingmaterials,alltestsshallbeconductedatthesametemperature(x00B1;3x00B0;C).1.1Thistestmethodmeasuresthebarriereffectivenessofaspecimenofprotectiveclothinguponcontinuouscontactwithaliquid.1.1.1ProcedureAForusewhenavalueforthecumulativeamountofchemicalpermeatedin1hisdesired.1.1.2ProcedureBForusewhenbreakthroughdetectiontimeandpermeationratevaluesaredesired.1.2Althoughnotaddressedherein,theeffectofthetestchemicalontheclothingmaterialcanbedeterminedbycomparingtheweightorotherphysicalpropertiesofthespecimenbeforeandafterthepermeationtest.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection.
